- Small ledger book, bound in a dark brown leather, used by Martin Cooney, the Superintendent of Horses for the Detroit Fire Department to record the purchase of horses, spanning November 23, 1882 to January 23, 1914. The book was manufactured by the Gregory, Mayer and Thom Company of Detroit, and it contains the pre-printed column headers, "date," "color," "sex," "age," "weight," "price," "bought of," and "how disposed of." A small scrap of paper was found inside the book, printed with: President McGraw has announced the following Committees: Men..............McGraw Katz Finance.........Bosquett Chittenden Horses..........Chittenden Bosquett Telegraph......Bosquett Katz Supplies........Chittenden McGraw Buildings.......Katz Chittenden Apparatus......McGraw Bosquett Water............Katz McGraw supply and consumption of hay and oats by the department's horses, spanning January 1, 1907 to January 6, 1917. - Invitation to the First Annual Ball of Protection Engine Company No. 1 at Thomas Paton's Hotel on Gratiot Avenue at Russell Street on Tuesday, February 17, 1852. The invitation lists the managers, and floor managers for the event, and notes that the music will be provided by Warner's Band, and "carriages for the ladies will be in attendance."

- Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, printed by the Detroit Lithographic Office, and issued to George W. Cook on November 9, 1889. The document bears the signatures of President John Kendall, Treasurer James A. Elliott, and Secretary John E. Quick. Illustrations of a firefighter speaking into a bugle, as two other firefighters hold a hose, as well as of a team of firefighters riding in an early self-propelled steam-driven fire engine are on the left side of the certificate. The certificate is mounted on linen.

- Detroit Fire Department active duty certificate, engraved by Capewell and Kimmel, and issued to Charles L. McMichael, foreman of Phoenix Company No. 5, on March 29, 1861. The document bears the signatures of President Benjamin Vernor, Treasurer Robert McMillan, and Secretary Henry Starkey, beside a green embossed Fire Department of the City of Detroit seal. Illustrations of uniformed firefighters, an early fire apparatus and firefighting equipment, the seal of the State of Michigan, and Neptune flanked by two winged monsters are bordered by scrollwork. The certificate has been mounted on linen.

Brevoort at Dinner, near the National Hotel, in celebration of the approaching Anniversary of American Independence, on Monday the 5th inst. Detroit, July 2, 1847 Committee: Jno. R. - Color postcard depicting a fire truck drawn by three horses, with ten firemen aboard. Printed on verso: The Detroit Fire Department is considered one of the best equipped in the country, and their promptness in responding to alarms is remarkable. The magnitude of the department is scarcely realized by the majority of the people. It requires the services of 630 men to handle the 32 engines, 13 trucks, 3 hose companies, 340 horses, 1 water tower and 2 fire boats. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Jan 22, 1911.

- Detroit Firemen's Fund Association membership certificate, designed by the Calvert Lithograph Company, and issued to J.W. Houghton, and dated July 13, 1912. The certificate is signed by the group's president T.O. Shea, treasurer B. Cronin, and secretary W.M. Burgess, and a red embossed Detroit Firemen's Fund Association seal has been stamped besides the signatures. A color illustration of firefighters using a ladder apparatus and of a pair of firefighters riding on a horse-drawn fire engine are on the left side of the document.
