- Located at middle of east side of100 block of Washington Avenue South. Shops in this photo include: Porter's women's clothing at 105, Liebermann Trunk Company at 107, Lansing Camera Shop at 109, Len's Mens Shop and Parker Jewelry at 111, Mills Dry Goods at 113, Two Legs mens clothing at 115 South Washington Avenue. City Planning Division staff annotated and trimmed the photo.

- A view of the Nelson F. Jenison dry goods store at 123 South Washington Avenue. Four women and two men stand out front, with bolts of fabric and other items for sale. A reflection of Mead Hall can be seen in the windows at left. All of the people in the photograph are not identified. The photograph was taken prior to 1896 when Jenison sold the store to Reynolds, Jewett, and Knapp. This building was torn down for the construction of the W. T. Grant store in the early 1930s.

- Photograph of South Washington, 100 block, west side, Lansing. The Prudden Building, built around 1900, burned in 1921. The unusual porte-cochere of the Mills Dry Goods Company (built in 1866) extends out to the curb of Washington Avenue.
