- Black and white street view photograph from a glass plate negative of the north side of Monroe. Pedestrians are visible walking the neighboring sidewalk and through the avenue. A street car is traveling along the tracks through the center of the thoroughfare; horse carriages are also visible. Several businesses are adjacent to Monroe, those visible include, Juzek Brothers Tailors, Cosmopolitan Restaurant, Nederlander's Loan Office, Detroit Printing Stationery Company, Menter and Rosenbloom Clothing Company, Erlenbach's Millinery, Chop Suey, and the Hotel Ste. Claire. Written on the verso, " 3rd Block, north side Monroe - Farmer to Randolph, 1910."

- Print. Mounted, sepia-toned photographic print taken of the exterior of the Geo. H. Gies. Orchestrion and Lager Beer Hall. Four men stand along the building's front steps, where two children are sitting. A handwritten on the verso elaborates that this was taken c.1873-7 and is the former St. Joseph's Lutheran Church at Monroe Street and Farmer Street. However, this structure is identified as St. John's German Evangelical Church in Silas Farmer's History of Detroit and Wayne County and Early Michigan.

Many pedestrians cross the thoroughfare; a street car travels along the tracks. The Wright and Kay Company; and H.C. Weber Hardware Company are also adjacent to the Opera House. Written on the verso, "From Woodward to Monroe North side looking north, 1910, Detroit Opera House."

- Mounted sepia-toned photographic print depicting the north end of Campus Martius as viewed from an elevated position. Roesink Clothes, the Detroit Opera House, Norton and Company, Bond's Clothes, Kaufman Hats, United Cigars, a restaurant with a sign that simply reads, "Lunch," are in the midground. The Merrill Fountain, the bust of Governor John Judson Bagley, a tent labeled "War Camp Community Service," pedestrians, automobiles, small buses, and electric streetcars are visible in Campus Martius. Along Monroe Street in the background are the Ste. Clair Hotel, Garry's Clothes Shop, the Palace Theatre, the National Theatre, Dr. Pilmore's Dentists, and the other pool halls, and loan offices of the Monroe Block. Billboards for the Thompson Auto Company and Velvet Tobacco are posted. The photo is affixed to a heavy black cardstock backing, and remnants of blue tape surround it. "Walker & Co. Electric Sign" is handwritten along the bottom of the matting. "1918" is handwritten on the verso.

- Sepia-toned photo mounted on a black cabinet card with gold trim bearing an image taken during the 1891 National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic in Detroit. The view is across Campus Martius, filled with people and decorated with flags, facing northeast down Monroe Street. In the background, the Detroit Opera House, indicated with a blue "X," is visible. On the other side, stands the Monroe Block. In the foreground, marked with an "O," are the steps to City Hall. Nearby on the right is fountain topped with a statue of a woman. "Detroit Opera House (left X) & square front of City Hall, Detroit. (Taken so ? stand front of City Hall shows O). I went to Detroit Opera House all thru my youth. Sam Bernhardt, Booth, Banet Modgeska, Maggie Whitehell "Lotta" Crabtree, Mansfield, Sol Smith Russell, David Mansfield, Fannie Davenport, Gillette" handwritten on verso.

In view are many pedestrians, streetcars, the Merrill Fountain decorated with a sign reading "Let's Finish the Job, Buy Victory Bonds", the Detroit Opera House, Soldier' and Sailors' Monument, Wayne County Building, and Cadillac Square Building. Signs read "Velvet" and "Henkel's Flour". Printed on verso: Monroe Avenue, Detroit, Mich. Monroe Avenue is Detroit's Great Amusement thoroughfare. Here are located the Temple, Family, Columbia Royale and National Theatres; also any number of Nickel Shows. The electric display at night is very brilliant and here we follow the crowd in the evening. Handwritten message on verso, postmarked Nov 8, 1920.
