- An original cabinet card taken by Lansing photographers Cassey and Riley in about 1892, showing a young R. E. Olds at the steering lever of his second self-propelled vehicle. (His first was constructed by him in 1886-1887). The passenger is not identified. On the back is a typed pasted-on note: "Second car built by RE Olds - later sold to a firm in Bombay, India."

- A similar photograph of this train engine appeared in the Lansing State Journal on May 20, 1959, page 32. Information below comes from the caption in the newspaper. This is a 6-6-0F11 engine that had been used between Columbus and Pomeroy, Ohio. The Chesapeake & Ohio railroad moved it to the Union depot on East Michigan Avenue in Lansing for display during the Centennial of Transporation Parade in May 1959, and it was also a part of the week-long INTRAN (Industrial and Transportation) show held at the 119th Field Artillery that followed. It had been stored in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was restored for display in 1951. Originally part of the Carl Dalrymple Collection.

The sign on the building at the right reads "Grand River Restaurant & Pool Room" though this business is not listed in the 1898 Lansing City Directory. Note on sleeve: "No. 36. July 8, 1898. 5:30 pm. Snap Shot slow. Opr. Hat. Full sunlight."

- Twelve train cars loaded with furniture leaving Grand Rapids. The image shows a steam locomotive at the front of a line of Union Pacific freight cars, with a large empty field in the foreground. Five male figures are posed by the locomotive. Midway down the train is a bridge marked “Grand Trunk Railway”.
