- Description:
- A small collection of photographs and memorabilia of Freeman Jones, M.D., and his son Seth H. Jones, M.D., of Lansing. The material is broken into three series: photographs, newspaper clippings, and other material. The majority of the collection is to do with Seth Jones' roles in the Knights Templar order of Masons in Michigan. At one point he served as Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Michigan Knights Templar. There are formal portraits of him in uniform, as well as several from the 1914 Conclave in Lansing. There are also portraits of Freeman Jones with his vehicle and his office building on Allegan Street in downtown Lansing. The newspaper clippings include Knights Templar articles as well as obituaries for both doctors. And in the final category, there is an issue of the Flint "Saturday Night" magazine from 1929 with a portrait of Seth Jones in uniform, due to his visit to Flint to inspect the local Commandery. A small "Addresses" booklet contains biographical writings about Seth Jones and his wife Mattie (Green) Jones. Select material has been digitized in each series. Contact the library for more information.
