- J. W. and Catherine Knapp (owners of the Knapp's department store) with their daughter in the snow, in front of the B. F. Davis residence at the corner of South Washington and Hillsdale streets. Note on back of photo: "This photo was taken prior to 1904 when Alice (daughter) was buried at Mt. Hope Cemetary."

- Built by railroad tycoon Orlando Mack Barnes in 1875-1876, located at 137 West Main Street overlooking the Grand River. The "castle" was designed by L. D. Grosvenor and built at a cost of $40,000. It had six stairwells and nine fireplaces, among other details. Barnes' son Orlando Fleming Barnes maintained the house into the 1920s. Both served as Mayor of Lansing.

- Caption on photo: "The Octagon House was the residence of Colonel Whitney Jones who was Auditor General in 1855-58. This photograph shows the moving of the building so that Arbaugh's store could be built on the site. It was used as a warehouse until 1929 when it was demolished and the site made into a parking lot." This is incorrect; the building was razed in 1935. Three copies. Originally part of the Carl Dalrymple Collection.

- Built in 1886, located on the corner of Allegan and Townsend streets. From a Lansing "State Republican" article of October 15, 1886, about the home: "The masonry was done by Chittenden, the building by Fuller & Wheeler, and the painting by Voiselle and Larose. Most of the timber used in the structure was taken from Mr. Moores' pine lands in Northern Michigan."
