- President James Miller conferring an honorary Doctor of Humanities to Russell C. Williams at Commencement on June 6, 1964. Behind James Miller and Russell Williams sits faculty in academic regalia. A blinded World War II Veteran, Williams was the first Chief of the Blind Rehabilitation Section of the Veterans Administration's Department of Medicine and Surgery. Williams had been serving as a counselor for blinded soldiers at Valley Forge, and also participated in both blind rehabilitation training programs at Valley Forge and Avon Old Farms.

View from the Northeast. Designed by Battle Creek architect, Ernest W. Arnold, the Administration Building was completed and occupied in 1905. By 1909 two wings were added: the Training School and the Gymnasium. Together they were later known as East Hall. The Science Building opened in 1915 and later was renamed West Hall. The campus remained in use into the 1950s when classes transitioned to the West Campus (later Main Campus). Later, East Campus was known as Historic East Campus.

To the right is the cars parked along the drive infront of the Training School and Administration Building. View toward the Northeast. Designed by Battle Creek architect, Ernest W. Arnold, the Administration Building was completed and occupied in 1905. By 1909 two wings were added: the Training School and the Gymnasium. Together they were later known as East Hall. The Health and Personnel Building opened in 1939. It was later renamed Speech and Hearing Center.
