- W[ilson] S. Beckley ALS to Mother [Sarah Sturdevant Beckley] + Co., June 4, 1863. Murfreesboro, Tn., page 3. From a collection of papers including dated material from April 12, 1862, through November 16, 1864. The collection of 16 letters provides a great deal of information on camp life in the 21st Michigan Volunteer Infantry as well as views towards the “rebels.” With the exception of one letter from a cousin named Julia and a discarded letter of a Confederate soldier that he found at a rebel camp describing the battle of Shiloh, all letters were written by Beckley to his mother.

- View of the 'Grand Assault' made by French and Spanish forces on September 13th, 1782 against the British garrison on Gibraltar during the Siege of Gibraltar. Several officers and aides-de-camp of the combined French and Spanish forces appear on horseback in the central foreground, including the Duc de Carillon, the Comte de Artois and the Duc de Bourbon. On the shoreline above the officers there are several batteries of cannons and mortars firing rounds. On the left-hand side there are tents of the French and Spanish encampments, war ships in the Mediterranean Sea and formations of soldiers advancing toward the battle lines. On the right-hand side several war ships occupy the Strait of Gibraltar while numerous gunboats, floating batteries, ships of the line and landing vessels can be seen in the Bay of Gibraltar at center. The Rock of Gibraltar looms in the background, sustaining heavy bombardment. Trajectories of cannon and mortar rounds are illustrated with traced lines.; Includes table of reference.
