- Description:
- Family photograph of the Clyne family taken sometime in the 1920s. The Clynes were a large family who owned a farm on Terry Avenue in Rochester. In the center of the photo in a gingham dress is Mary Ellen Eldred Clyne (1857-1934), the matriarch of the family. It is possible that the man behind her is her husband, George D. Clyne (1854-1931). They had at least nine children. The man second from the left is their son, Charles Clyne (1887-1979), and the third man from the left is another son, Frederick Clyne 1882-1933). The woman to the right of Mary Ellen appears to be her daughter, Mina Clyne Smith (1889-?). The man third from the right holding the baby is Andrew Benjamin Clyne (1880-1933), the man second from the right is Ervin Frank Clyne (1888-1964), and the man on the end is Thomas Clyne (1893-1965). In addition, they had three other children, Nettie (1878-1941), Grace (1884-1927), and William, who died in infancy in 1891. (P-209) [date is approximate] Photograph Collection
