Grant says she was denied a teaching position in the Boston Public schools due to her race, but was later made Deputy Superintendent for Boston schools after earning her doctorate from Harvard. Grant talks about her work with Episcopal priest James P. Breeden on civil rights issues and with Jonathan Kozol in the Community Schools movement. She came to the Michigan Partnership for New Education in 1991.

Fair discusses the background and history of the development of the film industry in Tanzania. She focuses her history by exploring how films connected the people in Tanzania, the differences between Tanzanian films and American films, what types of films were the most popular, and the working conditions in movie houses. Fair answers questions from the audience. She is introduced by John Beck, professor of Human Resources and Labor Relations.
