- This photograph provides a view of the camp perimeter and barbed-wire fence as well as the commandant's office (to the left) and POW barracks in the prison camp at Dunaszerdahley. Note the low fence and white line that runs parallel to the fence which is no man's land for POW's. Assuming that prisoners in this area were attempting to escape, guards had orders to shoot any prisoners that ventured into this forbidden area.

- This photograph shows a view of the prison camp at Crossen-an-der-Oder from the central watch tower, showing the church and the site of the future YMCA building the American Association planned to construct. The POW's have already built several barracks and a church inside the compound. The photograph shows several of the camp's barracks and buildings under construction.

- Russian prisoners leave the theater barrack after an afternoon performance. By the smiles on their faces, most of the men appear to have enjoyed the show. The YMCA provided theatrical costumes, props, and play scripts to improve the morale in camps through entertainment.

- In front of an administrative building in Ulm, Russian prisoners obtain copies of the prison camp newspaper. Many camps printed their own newspapers to provide POW's with information about camp news, social events, sports, and class and church schedules. Proceeds from the sale of newspapers often went to the camp Help Committee. German authorities also printed special propaganda newspapers, especially in Wuerttemberg, in an effort to sway POW opinions.

- French prisoners of war unload a wagon of potatoes and a cart of fresh milk from local farmers in the court yard of the prison at Grafenwoehr. They load baskets of food which will be sold in the prison canteen. Prisoners with money could purchase additional food to augment their diets by making purchases in the canteen.
