- Sepia-toned composite group portrait of the members of the Detroit Fire Department in 1890, composed of 207 separate head-and-shoulder portraits of unidentified firefighters arranged in rows on the right, and, on the left, portraits of Chief James Battle, Assistant Chiefs James R. Elliott and Mark H. Gascoigne, First Battalion Chief John Kendall, Second Battalion Chief James C. Broderick, Third Battalion Chief William J. Gowan, Superintendent of Horses Allan. Armstrong, and Master Mechanic Francis Beaufait, as well as a photo of Detroit Fire Department Headquarters on the northeast corner of Wayne Street and Larned Street. Images of several pieces of firefighting equipment for a design surrounding the portrait of Battle, and the left edge of the image. A.G. McMichael, Artist & Photo, 210 & 212 Woodward Ave. Copyright 1891 by A.G. McMichael" is printed in the lower left corner.

- Photographic Print (1 copy). Sepia-toned albumen cabinet card photo of a fireman who is standing beside a small table. He is also holding the handle of an axe that is resting on the floor. His shirt has been hand-colored in purple and the number, "5," has been handwritten his badge. Handwriting on the verso notes, "M. Pasco." The copy photo is somewhat faded although there is some coloring on his shirt. Handwriting on the verso of the copy shows "Mark Pasco."

- Sepia-toned glossy photo of a Detroit Fire Department Packard squad car. The car is parked on a brick driveway near the corner of a building and shows the driver and the left side of the vehicle. The car is right-hand drive since the steering wheel is on the right side. "Engine 30" can be seen on the firemen's helmets that are attached to the horizontal bar at the back of the squad car. The number, "04885," is handwritten in black ink in the lower right corner of the photo. Handwriting on the verso shows "D.F.D., Second Packard squad car taken while in service as old Engine No. 30, then located on east side of Hastings St. between East Larned and Congress Streets, and was quartered with Engine No. 2 in the same station. This unit was delivered Oct. 18, 1910, to the Detroit Fire Dept., was factory serial no. 15957 and dept. no. 215. The squad car was sent to engine 34 (later to become squad 2) in 1912. The unit remained there until March, 1922, when it was placed in reserve service. The squad car was presented to the Detroit Historical Museum in 1934." A blue ink stamp on the verso shows "Spooner & Wells Photograph, 1231 Woodward Ave."

- Sepia-toned albumen photo of eleven firefighters of Ladder Company No.1 who are shown in front of the old Fire Department Headquarters building at Wayne (now Washington Blvd.) and Larned Streets. A newspaper article is glued to the mounting cardboard to the right of the photo and is entitled at the top, "Old Fire Department Building Being Razed." A label beneath the photo shows "The Old Makes Way For The New." Also a handwritten note in pencil in the lower right corner shows "Taken 1893, Ladder 1." Handwriting on the verso notes "No. 1 - Hook and Ladder Truck and Company. 3 Horse Team. This picture must be handled with care - belongs to Capt. of No. 1 and is prized of course. Return to Burns in A1 order." Another note shows "Right to Left: 1. Capt. McGraw, 2. Morrison, 3. Sullivan, 4. Creegan, 5. Obrien, 6. ---------, 7. C. Klein?, 8. Joe Clements, 9. Jack Alexander; Stub McCumber-driver." The fireman who is seated at the tiller at the rear of the ladder truck is not identified.

A horse-drawn ladder wagon is visible in the foreground. A signature in the lower left corner of the drawing shows "D. A. McCormick - Del., 1880." The estimated date of the photo is based upon the image depicted and is not based upon when the drawing was made or when the photo was taken.

- Sepia-toned photograph of head and shoulders view of a Detroit fireman. The cap badge reads, "DFD 204," and the badge on his lapel reads, "Detroit 204." Noted at the base of the image is the photographer, "Friend & Smith, 244 & 246 Woodward Ave., Detroit." Written on verso, "Dick Brownell." Brownell was a ladderman with the Detroit Fire Department.

- Cabinet card bearing a sepia-toned head-and-shoulders portrait photograph of Detroit Fire Commissioner Peter Henkel. Handwriting on the verso notes "ex-commissioner, Peter Henkel." This photograph is one of a series of eight photos of former Detroit Fire Department Commissioners. The decorative logo of the photographer's studio (Randall) has been torn off of the verso of the cabinet card photo. The proof bears the name of "Geo. Francis Train" at the bottom, and a stamp for "Randall, 220 & 222 Woodward Ave., Detroit, Mich.," is shown on the verso.
