- Edna Ramont talks about her career at REO Motor Car Company/Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc., in Lansing, MI, from 1942 to 1974. Ramont describes her early years at REO and the everyday details of her employment, such as her pay, break time, layoffs, building lawnmowers and operating lathes and drill presses in the Truck Motor Department. Ramont also fondly recalls the REO Clubhouse, the pipe organ, the many worker social gatherings and the family-like atmosphere at REO. She also, however, stresses her staunch unionism and discusses a strike at the plant during the very difficult war years. The interviewer is Shirley Bradley. Recorded as part of the commemoration of REO Motor Car Company’s 100th Anniversary.

- M. Cecil Mackey, former president of Michigan State University and current professor of economics, discusses his education, career, and tenure as MSU President. Mackey talks about his efforts to maintain the authority of the MSU Board of Trustees and planning the Breslin Center while president and his time as an economics professor since he left the presidency. Mackey also reminisces about his early career as counsel for the Senate Antitrust Subcommittee and the Department of Transportation, as well as his early posts as President of the University of South Florida and Texas Tech. Mackey says that military conscription in both World War II and the Korean War had a definite impact on his education and discusses his opinions on the current state of higher education. Mackey is interviewed by retired MSU Professor Pauline Adams for the Michigan State University Faculty Emeriti Oral History Project.

- President Obama talks about retirement security at U.S. Steel's Mon Valley Works plant in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. Obama announces he is directing the Treasury Department to establish a new "MyRA" retirement savings plan targeting lower wage earners with lower minimum start-up deposits and smaller contribution levels to help people get their retirement savings started. Obama makes his remarks as part of a two-day tour highlighting initiatives from his State of the Union address. At the conclusion of the speech he signs the document.

- Dr. Donald Kaufman discusses his career as a Professor of Immunology in the Department of Pediatrics and Human Development at Michigan State University. Kaufman describes joining the department in 1971, knowing little about MSU and East Lansing, but welcoming the freedom to work as he wished. He talks about his many interests, pursuing several projects simultaneously and eventually specializing in health care policy. Kaufman recalls the efforts to establish a true university hospital at MSU and how the plan was rejected by the University administration. Kaufman also talks about teaching, his students, his colleagues, and his department's many challenges and accomplishments throughout his tenure. David J. - President George W. Bush hosts the summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy at the National Building Museum in Washington D.C.. President Bush explained how the summit was organized, focusing on which countries were invited and what their tasks would be. Bush says the nations agreed that the financial markets need to be more transparent and accountable, so that investors can understand the true value of the assets they purchase. Bush explains that there will be more meetings of this sort as the nations progress, but he will no longer the U.S. President to attend them. Bush wishes President-elect Obama on his future work within the summit meetings.
