Peter McPherson, former president of Michigan State University, reflects on his time at MSU and particularly his involvement with the MSU Faculty Grievance Policy (FGP) and the Faculty Grievance Official (FGO). McPherson talks about the effectiveness of the FGP and its weaknesses and the rationale for some of the specific changes he brought to the FGP during his tenure as MSU President. He also describes one grievance in particular which required significant university resources to shepherd through the process and says that he was finally forced to intervene personally in order to bring resolution to the matter.
