Mounted black and white panoramic image of the fire tug JAMES BATTLE being used to fight the fire which claimed the Belle Isle Bridge on April 27, 1915, created from two overlapping photos. Firefighters stand at the bow of the BATTLE, on the right side of the frame with its port side to the camera and the Detroit shore of the Detroit River, while smoke rises from the remaining trusses of the bridge on the right. Several bare columns, and another smoldering truss are visible further across the river in the background. The caption, "Burning of the Belle Isle Bridge, April 27, 1915," is printed along the bottom of the mat board.
