Notes:

Alger Park School was built in 1927, with a four-room addition completed in 1948. Charles Garfield took a special interest in the school when it opened, donating materials for a historical exhibit and personally supervised the exterior plantings. Article: Grand Rapids Herald, 3-5-1950, pg. 34.
