Postcard. Color illustration of the Elks Temple and adjacent buildings on Monroe Street. Visible business signs include "L. Friedman, Optician", "Rall's Chocolate Shop", "Louis S. Simon", "Temple Barber Shop" and "Thiry'". A car is parked on the street. Printed on the verso, "The Elks' Temple. Monroe Avenue is one of the many handsome buildings to be found in the busy thoroughfare. It is nine stories in height, the seven lower floors being used for business and office purposes, while the remaining two floors are given over entirely to lodge rooms, which are commodious and very artistically decorated." Handwritten note on verso reads "Dear Glen, arrived in Detroit last eve. We are on the Boat for Belle Isle and it's lovely. Detroit is one jam. People everywhere. - Lovingly, Aunt Adda" Postmarked Jul 13, 1910.
