Risdon Pony Express Saddle Bag Presentation to Washtenaw Historical Society in 1954. Woman next to Blanche Mead is Bessie Collins, Saline Historian. Saddle Bags are now on display at Depot Museum, Risdon Drive.; Newspaper caption: "Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Martin, Saline, present to Howell Taylor, president of the Washtenaw Historical Society, the original saddle bags used by Orange Risdon to carry Pony Express mail on Detroit-Chicago run. Next to Mrs. Martin is Miss Blanche Mead, great-great grandaughter of Orange Risdon. Mayor of Saline, Henry Leutheuser, is standing next to Howell Taylor. The presentation was made in Saline, Saturday, when the Historical Society presented a plaque."
