Work songs from the woods and the waters

Description:
The Jayme Stone Lomax Project performs a program entitled "Work songs from the woods and the waters : the extraordinary music of everyday folks". Focusing on songs collected by folklorist and field recording pioneer Alan Lomax, banjo player and vocalist Jayme Stone talks about bringing together his group of roots musicians to revive and perform the songs captured by Lomax. Moira Smiley is on accordion and vocals, Joseph Phillips on upright bass and vocals, and Sumaia Jackson on fiddle and vocals. Librarian Michael Rodriguez convenes the event. The musicians are introduced by John P. Beck, professor, Michigan State University School of Human Resources and Labor Relations. Part of the Library Colloquia Series and "Our Daily Work/Our Daily Lives" Brown Bag series sponsored by the MSU School of Human Resources and Labor Relations and the MSU Museum.
