Kim says that his father brought the family to the U.S. for greater opportunities and hoped that his sons would become doctors. Kim also says it is important to have a respected profession because he is not white and aspires to a life in the suburbs with cars and kids. Kim also says that he thinks about other careers and may try dental school if he fails to qualify for medical school, even though his father is very insistent that he become a doctor.
