Sepia-toned photograph depicting the elevator launch and pit at the at the Ford Rouge Factory Complex. View of Elevator Launch and Pit. The elevator construction is now complete, and water is being pumped from the Rouge River through a long pipe to fill the pit. When filled, the earthen berm separating the pit from the river will be removed. A rail-mounted crane with its boom extended is near the launch tower. Lower right hand corner of photo has number and date of photo: 22651-7-08-18. Photo mounted on a linen backing.
