Photograph of State Capitol, Lansing. The act providing for its erection was passed March 31, 1871. Its cornerstone was laid October 2, 1873. The total cost was over $1.5 million at the time. The capitol was dedicated and occupied in 1879. The Austin Blair statue visible in front was erected in 1898, dating this photograph to sometime after that point.
