Figurine; Fayoum; Figurines; Clay (unfired)
- Notes:
- Hollow molded fragment from a single mold in redish-brown clay (Munsell 5YR 5/4). The reverse side is fashioned by hand and there is a loop for suspension with a small circular vent above it. The head is missing and there is a hole through the front wall to the left of the groin. The fragment depicts a heroic warrior with shield of the large Gallic type on the left arm. The figure assumes the lunge to the eye which goes back to the famous Tyrannicides. The leap is depicted in relief against a background. The muscles are modelled. The figure stands on a high rectangular base which is closed underneath.
