Rome; Lamps; Glaze; Clay (unfired); Zeus

Notes:
Buff clay with traces of reddish-brown glaze. Rounded nozzle. Plain rim divides at base of nozzle and two ends terminate in volutes. Air hole in neck. Three circular grooves around discus in center of which is bust of Zeus, to front, wearing chiton and himation. In front, eagle, wings spread, head turned left, conventional thunderbolt in claws. Handle missing, has been smoothed down even with sides of lamp. Slightly raised base set off by circular groove. Short molded line in center. Badly worn condition.
