Karanis; Textiles; Wool

Notes:
Fragment of yellowed woven wool fabric with a blue/black tapestry band near one edge. The band varies in width from 1.1 cm to 1.5 cm with a wider (3 cm) circular section. This section has several linen slit tapestry elements along the edge and a few very small remnants of linen weft-wrapping. There are a few more very deteriorated blue/black and undyed linen tapestry elements below the band. Above the band there is a partial weft-twining row that narrows from three to one rows of twining. The twining loops pass over two warps each.
