The local American Leagion band drumming up poppy sales in 1930. American Legion “tin hats.” The photograph shows uniformed men with hard hats and drums or other instruments posed by the memorial in Veterans Park. A large banner reads “Wear a Poppy”. The bass drum is lettered “American Legion Post 356, Furniture capital of America, Grand Rapids, Mich.”.
