Local History Photograph Collection

Description:

This collection of photographic material includes the Local History General Photograph Collection (JQ02) as well as more recent and ongoing additions to the general photo files in the Forest Parke Library and Archives at CADL. The collection is general in nature and includes material focusing on the greater Lansing and Ingham county area. Some materials fit into more than one category so it is best to check in several places. For example, an historic church might fall into Religion or Buildings. The core Local History General Photograph Collection was processed at the time that CADL was participating in the Making of Modern Michigan program, although these photographs were not included in that program. The numbering scheme that was established for MMM was applied to these materials though, and consists of JQ (institution code), 02 (collection code), a series letter code such as "a" for Aerials, and then images were numbered consecutively within those series. The original numbers are cross referenced here but each photo has been given new IDs that are more consistent with the rest of the archival collections at CADL.
