Christmas Party

Notes:: Dr. Alison H. Edwards' (City Physician) annual party for poor children. The image shows a group of about 40 children, dressed in their best clothes, standing or sitting in front of a decorated Christmas tree. A man dressed in Santa Claus costume, with a pipe and round horn rim glasses stands to one side. The background is the interior of a large, elegant room, possibly a hotel ballroom. White paneled walls are adorned with candle-like sconces, and a large window is covered with gathered sheer curtains, with long velvet draperies open on each side. Part of a bandstand can be seen at the right side of the image, with a bass drum and cymbals.
