Velvet Evening Coat with Taffeta Ruffles and Lace Cuffs, 1919

Description:
Evening coat of dove gray velvet lined in rose silk taffeta with velvet covered buttons. Coat has rose taffeta ruffles and lace cuffs. The taffeta and lace over-collar creates a bib effect. A panel of velvet accented with buttons and black and gray metallic roping add emphasis to the back. This garment was owned by Matilda Dodge Wilson (October 19, 1883 – September 19, 1967),who was the wife of John Francis Dodge (October 25, 1864 – January 14, 1920), co-founder of the Dodge Motor Car Company in Detroit, Michigan.
