Print. Black and white photographic print of The J.L. Hudson Company Department Store under construction on Woodward Avenue. The construction occurring is joining the two Hudson's buildings together where Himelhoch's Department Store was once located. A series of intricate scaffolding is visible atop the sidewalk and in front of the structure. Automobiles are parked along Woodward Avenue in front of Hudson's, and The Newcomb-Endicott Company in the background. The date, and photographic sequence number are printed on the bottom of the recto, "Aug - 20 - 23; 55803." Also, the name of the photography studio, and their geographic location are embossed on the bottom of the recto, "Manning Bros., Detroit."
