Description:
View of the stage area and part of the audience at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, designed by architect, Albert Kahn and opened in 1913, the building underwent renovations in 2003. "His {Kahn] experiences at Bologna proved invaluable when designing the brickwork of the Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, a rich veneer of brick and tile provided a contrasting frame for the monumental stone colonnade of the entrance facade, here classical formality prevailed, but not without a considerable freedom in the handling of the details ... on the interior a parabolic plan with the speaker's stand at the focal point assured the maximum in acoustical advantages," from "The Buildings of Detroit: A History," by W. Hawkins Ferry.
