The fireman is wearing his uniform which includes a long, double-breasted coat, decorative belt, and cap. His shirt has been hand-colored in purple in the collar area. The badge on his coat has the handwritten number "2." (The copy photo shows the handwritten number "3" on his coat and the badge number on the cap also appears to be number 3.) Handwriting on the verso notes "Whitney B. Beattie."
