- Photograph of Thoman Mill and Morley Boarding House at 125 East Ottawa Street in Lansing, Michigan. Taken before 1884. The Thoman Mill was built in 1869, by Fred Thoman and his brother-in-law F. J. Reitz. The mill mainly processed grain into flour, but also supplied steam, water, and power for the cityIt lasted almost a century at that location before being demolished in 1957 for a parking lot. - Photograph of Mineral Well House, Lansing. Built by C.Y. Edwards and others 1870, burned 1879. Located on the east side of South River Street while the Bath House and Mineral Well were on the west side , about 75 feet south of the River Street Bridge. The Bath House was later the site of Jarvis Engineering. Hugh Lyons, a former Mayor was in charge of the Bath House and John Smallwood was chief barber. A railroad station was on the grounds and a landing accomodated small steamers that operated on the Grand River.

- Photograph of West Michigan Avenue, south side of 100 block, Lansing. These small wooden buidings were moved to this location which became the site of the Hotel Olds. The two-story building on the left with the sign reading "Stoves" over the door is the original site of the Lawrence Bakery. To the right can be seen a blacksmith shop, a tailor shop, and a shoe shop. The tall buidling in the background is the original Hollister Building. In the center background is the roof of the Elks' Hall. Three copies.

- Photograph of first State Capitol building in Lansing. A capitol was built 1823-1828 in Detroit and last used by the State Legislature in 1848. This first State Capitol in Lansing was built in 1847 at a cost of $25,952. An addition of 16 feet was made in 1865. State offices were removed to the present capitol in 1879. Destroyed by fire December 16, 1882. It was located in the block where the old Masonic Temple is located, now used by Cooley Law School. The Senate Chamber was in the South (left) end and, in the north, the House of Representatives. Two copies.

- Photo of a weathered John Broad outside holding a cane. Born in England in 1836. Became naturalized citizen in 1859 when he "renounced and abjured all allegiance and fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatsoever, and particularly to the Queen of Great Britain." Served as a private in the Michigan Infantry in the Civil War. Married Mrs. Charlotte C. Sherman on October 27, 1859.
