- Looking west at the north side. Many stores and shops are seen on East Michigan Avenue. To the left can be seen the Bank of Lansing building, to Lansing City Hall. Looking past the stores on East Michigan Avenue, the clock tower of the older Lansing City Hall is visible. Planning Division staff notations are present.

- Merritt & Bailey Shoes at 112 North Washington Avenue, Christian Supply Center upstairs at 112 1/2, National Distributors at 114, and Public Loan Corporation at 114 1/2 are seen. City Planning Division staff cut the photo and made several annotations. One of which indicates that 112 was formerly Kleinhans Men's Wear.

- Located at 107 Washington Avenue South. Two shops on the east side of the 100 block of South Washington Avenue: Porter's women's clothing at 105 and Liebermann Trunk Company at 107. City Planning Division staff trimmed the photo.

- Description:
- Landscaping used to breakup the hard surfaces and form the area for parking spaces. The view looks northwest toward the southern end of the west side of the 200 block of Washington Square South. At the corner, at 234 Washington Square South was Touch of Class art and craft store. Next, Kimmel's greeting cards at 228, Fanny Farmer candy at 226 and the Vogue clothing at 224. Behind the stores can be seen the Michigan National Bank parking ramp; the ramp was later demolished due to damage from salt-caused corrosion. To the right of the ramp, or north, is the rear of the Masonic Temple that faces on South Capitol Avenue. The photo is printed on photographer's proofing paper intended for short term use only and has cropping marks and other annotations.

- Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1039 at 401 and Lansing Broadcasting (WILS-AM) at 407 on the left, west side of North Washington Avenue. Lansing Storage at 440 North Washington is seen across North Washington at the north end of the block. A pedestrian approaching the camera is holding up an issue of the "Watchtower" paper. The Ottawa Grill is on the south side of West Shiawassee Street at North Washington Avenue; on the north side of West Shiawassee Street is the Eagles' Lodge, Aerie No. 1039, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
