- From the period when South Washington Street was used as parking lots from Michigan Avenue to Kalamazoo Street. According to Lansing City Council Proceedings from October 3, 1966, the 100, 200 and 300 blocks of South Washington were to be turned into a Parking Mall starting November 21, 1966. On June 9, 1989, Council ordered that the attended parking operations were to be eliminated.

On the right, Kay's Jewelry and Luggage faces North Washington Avenue. Stores to the east include the Keith Bartow Music Shop, Barker-Fowler Electric Company, Central Car and Truck Rental and VanDevoort Hardware Company - Boat Division. A part of the Ottawa Station of the Lansing Board of Water and Light can be seen behind the stores on the north side of East Ottawa Street.

The block ends with the Tussing building at West Ottawa Street, home of the Palms Theatre at 209 and the College Drugstore at 201. - Although a street address, "1105 Williams", is written on the reverse of the photo, no city directory shows a barbecue at that address around the time likewise written on the photo. Instead a series of churches occupied 1105 William (the only similar streetname in Lansing) for short periods of time.The building behind the sign could be a small church. The photo's reverse is also annotated with "618."
