- A "Passion Cross" procession of uniformed Knights Templars on Washington Avenue, marching to "Onward Christian Soldiers." According to the Lansing State Journal, over 5,000 members came from around Michigan for the annual Conclave event which involved the parade, competitive drills held at the Michigan State College stadium, a grand ball at the Masonic temple, a business meeting, a banquet for members and their wives, tours, and other activities. It was to date the largest Conclave to take place in Michigan, in part due to favorable weather conditions. The photograph is taken from an upper floor or the roof of the building at the corner of Ottawa and Washington streets, looking north up Washington Avenue. The Empress Cafe and the Bishop Company can be seen in the 300 block opposite, and further in the distance is the Lansing Storage Company warehouse. On the left a few letters of the Buck's sign can be seen. Two copies.

The Lansing State Journal explained the parade as follows: "Divisions form at Allegan and Walnut sts., marching east on Allegan to Capitol ave.; south on Capitol ave., to Kalamazoo st., east to Washington ave.; north to Shiawassee st., where they will counter march, forming the passion cross and returning south on Washington ave." The photograph is taken from the roof of a building near the intersection of Washington and Michigan avenues, looking north up Washington Avenue. Across the street are Woolworth's, Dancer-Brogan, the Plaza Theater, and many other businesses.

- Information on the bridge from the book "Past and Present of the City of Lansing and Ingham County" written by Albert Cowles: This bridge was new in 1874. It was built by Wrought Iron Bridge Co. of Canton, Ohio. Four other bridges were built in the same project: Seymour, Shiawassee, Saginaw Street, and Washington Ave. On April 1, 1875 all but Washington Ave. bridge were swept away by flood. A replacement concrete bridge was completed from 1902-1904.

- A "Passion Cross" procession of uniformed Knights Templars on Washington Avenue, marching to "Onward Christian Soldiers." According to the Lansing State Journal, over 5,000 members came from around Michigan for the annual Conclave event which involved the parade, competitive drills held at the Michigan State College stadium, a grand ball at the Masonic temple, a business meeting, a banquet for members and their wives, tours, and other activities. It was to date the largest Conclave to take place in Michigan, in part due to favorable weather conditions. The photograph is taken from an upper floor or the roof of the building at the corner of Ottawa and Washington streets, looking north up Washington Avenue. The Empress Cafe and the Bishop Company can be seen in the 300 block opposite, and further in the distance is the Lansing Storage Company warehouse. On the left a few letters of the Buck's sign can be seen. Two copies.

Many businesses can be seen the background, including the Lansing Business University, the Sturgis drug store, the Metropole Cigar Store, Mapes Menswear, and the Lansing Cafe. At left are Knapp's, Burton's Walk-Over Boot Shop, Hurd's Menswear, and the Olympia confectionery among others. The photograph was taken from the Hotel Downey at the southwest corner of South Washington and Washtenaw streets looking to the north.
