[Topographical Engineers] in 1853, 1854, & 1855, with additions to date under the orders of Captain G. G. Meade, Topl. Engrs., 1857." The chart was drawn at a scale of 1:40,000 and covers several miles of the St. Mary's River both upstream and downstream of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, with information such as soundings in feet, river bottom characteristics, shoreline details, lighthouses, and sailing directions. The chart was printed in black ink on white paper and was published by the Bureau of Topographical Engineers of the War Department (later known as the Army Corps of Engineers). - Contract between Finzel's Orchestra and the Ashley and Dustin Steamer Line for the services of eight musicians aboard the excursion steamer PUT-IN-BAY during the 1914 season, dated March 1st. The contract is in black printed ink on yellowed paper and has been filled in by typewriter. It stipulates a payment of $178 per week, and includes the note "Less $20.00 per week for two meals per day." The contract is signed by Edward A. Dustin. "Please sign and return this duplicate," is printed in the bottom left corner and a dotted black line at top suggests it was a piece of a larger perforated sheet of paper.

- One blueprint drawing entitled "U. S. Lake Survey, Detail of Intermediate Sweep Float." The drawing shows the design of a float (buoy) that was used as part of a sweep for obtaining water depth information. The sweep consisted of a line of 15 floats with flags, spaced at 100-foot intervals, that supported an underwater wire at a set depth. The line of buoys would then be dragged across an area of water by launches at each end of the buoy line. If the wire encountered any submerged obstructions, it would cause one or more float (buoy) flags to tip and thereby give an approximate location of an obstruction that could be investigated further. Such obstructions could then be plotted on the navigational charts that were produced by the Lake Survey Office. The plan is dated January, 1915.

- "Number 20, Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Co. First Mortgage, 5 Per Cent, $5000 Registered Gold Bond" (20 of 30). The bond is printed in printed in red, green, and black ink on white paper that is watermarked "Broun-Green Beaver Bond." It has a decorative engraved green border with engraved images at the top that depict Lady Liberty and other figures that represent American industry and a bountiful harvest. Black, Old-English style text shows the company name, "Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Co." and lists the terms of the bond issuance and repayment. The bond has been signed by "Harris T. Dunbar, President," and "Frederick C. Slee, Secretary," and is dated March 15, 1904. The 20-year bonds were due for repayment on March 15, 1924. A round, embossed company seal is located near the lower left corner of the bond. The verso contains blank spaces which have handwritten text that show the date and name in whom the bond was registered along with the signature of the company Treasurer. Other handwritten text and notes showed subsequent bond ownership reassignments with signatures.

The log book consists of folded sheets of white paper that have been printed with light blue lines and have been bound together with a light tan cord along the left edge. The log has 29 un-numbered pages of entries that have been handwritten in black ink on the recto and verso. The first entry notes: "April 17th, Wednesday, towed out of [?] River by ferry boat, N. York. Wind N.E. Came to anchor in the river." The last entry notes: "Decr. 1, Sunday, got under weigh at 2 a.m. Wind S.S.W. and got to Detroit at 2 P.M. freezing."

The membership certificate "No. 101107" was issued at Detroit on September 6, 1922. The booklet contains 14 pages of blank lines that were to be filled in by ship officers to indicate the name of the vessel on which the seaman had served, rating, and dates of service. (One line is filled in with handwritten ink text which indicated that Arthur Page served on one Great Lakes steamship between September 7 and October 3, 1922.)

- One indenture, dated May 4, 1920, between the Canada Southern Bridge Company of Michigan and Canada, and Harris T. Dunbar of Buffalo, New York. The document consists of two pages of black typewritten text on white paper that has been watermarked "Agawam Bond." The text provided a legal description of Stony Island in the lower Detroit River and indicated that the Bridge Company had sold the island to Harris T. Dunbar for $1.00, but reserved a 150-foot wide strip of land for a future right of way. The document was sealed and signed on the second page by officials of the Canada Southern Bridge Company as well as by a Notary Public. The two pages were bound together in a legal-style, light green paper binder which has three brass grommets at the top edge. Typewritten text on the outside of the binder reads "Warranty Deed, Canada Southern Bridge Company to Harris T. Dunbar" and includes a blue ink stamp from the Wayne County Register of Deeds Office.

The bond is printed in printed in red, green, and black ink on white paper that is watermarked "Broun-Green Beaver Bond." It has a decorative engraved green border with engraved images at the top that depict Lady Liberty and other figures that represent American industry and a bountiful harvest. Black, Old-English style text shows the company name, "Dunbar & Sullivan Dredging Co." and lists the terms of the bond issuance and repayment. The bond has been signed by "Harris T. Dunbar, President," and "Frederick C. Slee, Secretary," and is dated March 15, 1904. The 20-year bonds were due for repayment on March 15, 1924. A round, embossed company seal is located near the lower left corner of the bond. The verso contains blank spaces which have handwritten text that show the date and name in whom the bond was registered along with the signature of the company Treasurer. Other handwritten text and notes showed subsequent bond ownership reassignments with signatures.

- One navigational chart entitled, "Coast Chart No. 1, North End of Green Bay Including Northwest Shore of Lake Michigan," that was compiled and published as part of the Survey of the Northern and Northwestern Lakes (War Department, Corps of Engineers). It was prepared under the direction of Major Charles Keller and Major C. S. Riché of the Corps of Engineers. The chart is drawn at a scale of 1:120,000 and shows the northwestern end of Lake Michigan and Green Bay from Arthur Bay, Wisconsin, to Seul Choix Point on the south shore of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Land areas are shaded in pale yellow. Lake areas are shown in white and light blue. Distances are given in statute miles. Soundings for lake depths are given in feet and fathoms. Lines of latitude and longitude are shown in black. Lighthouses and buoys are also shown along with notes for sailing directions, dangers and water level data. The chart was originally published in 1910, but a note indicates that aids to navigation have been corrected to March 24, 1922. Two inset maps in the upper left corner of the chart show enlarged details of Cedar River, Wisconsin, and Nahma, Michigan.
