The view is across Campus Martius, filled with people and decorated with flags, facing northeast down Monroe Street. In the background, the Detroit Opera House, indicated with a blue "X," is visible. On the other side, stands the Monroe Block. In the foreground, marked with an "O," are the steps to City Hall. Nearby on the right is fountain topped with a statue of a woman. "Detroit Opera House (left X) & square front of City Hall, Detroit. (Taken so ? stand front of City Hall shows O). I went to Detroit Opera House all thru my youth. Sam Bernhardt, Booth, Banet Modgeska, Maggie Whitehell "Lotta" Crabtree, Mansfield, Sol Smith Russell, David Mansfield, Fannie Davenport, Gillette" handwritten on verso.
