- The Barnes residence was an example of the Victorian architecture which characterized the elite dwellings of the late nineteenth century. By the 1950s it had fallen into a state of disrepair as seen in this photo, and it was demolished by the City of Lansing for the creation of a parking lot. It stood at the south end of Capitol Avenue on West Main Street.

Sheathelm served as a Fire Department Commissioner for 20 years as well as a teacher and coach. The collection also contains some research and information about Lansing School Athletics and other Lansing School programs and materials. Russell also served as president of the Lansing Teacher's Credit Union and as a member of the Michigan State Alumni Association and so the collection contains magazines and other materials from Michigan State University as well.

There were two female music teachers at West Junior High in the 1925-1926 school year: Josephine Crabbs and Ruth Rogers. There were two boxes in this collection labeled "West Jr. High." West Junior High School was built between 1919 and 1920 in the 500 block of West Lenawee Street with further additions in 1922 and 1929.

The Lansing and Suburban Traction Co. had extended a line to the park in 1904, after obtaining the property the previous year and changing its name from Leadley's to Waverly Park. Donated by H. - The Knapp's building was "Knapp's Office Centre" from the 1980s to about 2000. The parking attendant booth is at Washtenaw Street end of the 200 block of South Washington Avenue, it was removed in 1989. Although the J. C. Penney department store building can been seen, no other stores are identifiable in the photo and it is unlikely that Penney's was still in operation at the time of the photo.
