- Description:
- This is a set of aerial stereo view photographs of Lansing and some surrounding area, taken at a scale of one inch to 500 feet. They were mostly made by a short-lived business on South Logan Street called StereoFoto, Inc., for the Lansing City Assessor's Office. The images are black and white square prints that measure approximately 9.25" square. Each print is dated and includes a print number. The majority were taken in May of 1970, but there is one file of three prints taken by the Abrams Aerial Survey Corporation in May of 1966 that show the area bounded approximately by Lenawee to the north, Washington to the east, the area between Mt. Hope and Holmes roads to the south, and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the west. This area contains the General Motors Grand River Assembly plant, the Lansing Board of Water and Light Eckert Power Plant, Moores Park pool, the ReoTown area, and other landmarks. The collection also includes "Control Notes for topographic mapping, 1970" by StereoFoto, Inc. which is a photocopied handwritten ledger of technical data related to the images. A PDF key to the aerials is attached in the Links field of this record. All of the images in this collection have been digitized. For access, contact the library.
