Is America's largest building devoted exclusively to the manufacture of cigars, it accommodates 2,000 employees, and in it are manufactured 2,000,000 cigars per week. - 104 page, 1886 catalog for Parke, Davis and Company. Sewn in a red cover bearing a lithograph of the Parke, Davis and Company laboratory and general offices between Guion Street, Atwater Street, Joseph Campau Street, and McDougall Avenue, as well as their New York office, and warehouse. Their laboratory of the manufacture of gelatin products is depicted on the back cover. Fluid extracts, normal liquids, German tinctures, concentrations, sugar-coated and gelatin coated pills, sugar coated granules, solid extracts, powdered extracts, concentrations, elixirs, syrups, medicinal wines, malt extracts, granular effervescent preparations, mineral water salts, compressed tablets, soluble elastic tablets, hard filled gelatin capsules, hard filled capsules, gelatin coated iodoform bougies, medicated lozenges, roll plasters, oleates, ointments, cerates, collodions, glyceroles, confections, inhalants, and pressed herbs are listed within.
