Many retailers align the thoroughfare include Queen Anne Soap, MacKenzie Furnishings, the Avenue Theatre, Rayl's Hardward, and the Pontchartrain Hotel which is visible in the central background. The photographic sequence number is printed on the bottom of the recto, "8037." The photographer's name, geographic location and telephone number are stamped on the verso, "Charles Ruel Messinger, Commercial Photographer, 1646 Woodward Ave. Detroit, Mich, Phone Hemlock 2186."

A female mannequin, dressed in day wear is featuring with a Hoover Suction Sweeper Vacuum; different styles of vacuums are featured throughout the window. Signage in the right foreground reads, "Announcing A Special Demonstration Month of the Suction Sweeper, 'We have tested very well-known make of sweepers. We believe the HOOVER to be the best.' Terms of Payment may be Arranged." A War Bond poster is affixed to the top right corner of the window and features a G.I. adorned with the American flag and reads, "Over the Top For You, Third Liberty Loan." Small signage in the bottom left window foreground reads, "The J.L. Hudson Company." Editorial marks are noted throughout the recto, and notes are hand-written on the verso, "Block out Hoover in all places; cut off top and bottom and right side." Also hand-written on the verso, "Return to E.F. Wendell."

A female mannequin stands on the left side of the window, and appears to be admiring the differing styles of vacuums which are placed around an embroidered chair, a wringing table, and ornamented room partition. Signage on the far right side of the window features a floral print and reads, "Grosse Pointe and Eastern Michigan Horticultural Society FLOWER SHOW, November 10, 11, 12, 1922, Belle Isle Casino, Free to Public." Also, smaller signage in the central foreground reads, "The J.L. Hudson Company." - Hexagonal J.L. Hudson Company trade card with a color image of a scene of a woman standing beside a cow as it drinks from a pond, credited to "Bufford." "Compliments of J.L. Hudson, Clothier," is printed on a banner drawn as if pinned to the lower right corner of the card. Text on the verso gives the store's address as 141, 143, and 145 Woodward Avenue, and promotes the store's selection, and prices, and encourages out-of-towners visiting Detroit to come to the store.
