- Description:
- One legal judgment, dated August 14, 1919, "No. 69668, Decree Quieting Title," issued by the Circuit Court for the County of Wayne in Chancery. The document consists of three pages of black typewritten text on white paper. The Circuit Judge, Arthur Webster, ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and stated that the sale of land by the plaintiffs to the Woodhouse Land Company was legal and that the defendants had no right, title, or interest in the property. The three pages were bound together in a legal-style, light blue paper binder which has two brass grommet at the top edge. Typewritten text on the outside of the binder reads "Decree Quieting Title" and printed text that shows "Wurzer & Wurzer, Attorneys and Counsellors at Law, Majestic Building, Detroit, Michigan" handled the case for the plaintiffs. A blue ink stamp indicated that the judgment had been recorded in Liber 1366, Page 78 at the Register of Deeds Office, Wayne County.

- Envelope for a letter (1952.061.004b) sent by Gabrial Richard to Major Jonathan Kearsley, receiver of the land office in Detroit, on March 5, 1824. Richard has signed "Free" beside his name to invoke his free franking rights as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The remnants of a red wax seal are on the envelope.

- Typewritten letter on Harrison Granite Company stationary from the company to Frances A. Pingree thanking her for her payment of $290 for the cost of the foundation of her mausoleum, dated June 19, 1903. The letter reads: New York, June 19/03 Mrs. Hazen S. Pingree, Detroit, Mich. Dear Mrs. Pingree: We thank you for your remittance for $290. in payment of cost of foundation of your mausoleum, received to-day. Yours very truly, Harrison Granite Company, Per W.H. Harris Pres.

- Advertisement from the Detroit Stove Works promoting their "Morning and Evening Star " model cooking stoves. On the recto is an illustration of a Morning and Evening Star stove, credited to A. Picard of Troy, New York, and text advertising that it has a "shaking and dump grate" and "burns hard coal, coke or wood perfectly."

- Typewritten letter sent to the Clark Electrical Engineering Company from Captain George Sabin Gibbs, of the Signal Corps on June 6, 1906. The message is in regard to order no. 5374 for "six sets of wireless telegraph instruments." Gibbs instructs that the sets should be shipped to the Signal Corps Storeroom in New York City. He adds that the army Quartermaster nearest to Detroit will follow up with specifications regarding shipping. Gibbs closes with his signature. The letter is printed on War Department, Office of the Chief Signal Officer letterhead.

- Hazen S. Pingree's military discharge papers from his service in the 1st Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Heavy Artillery unit during the Civil War. The top left corner is stamped, "Paid in full by Maj. A. Brodhead, Paymaster U.S.A." The form reads: To all whom it may Concern: Know ye, That Hazen S. Pingree a Private of Captain Joseph H. Clark Company, M, First Regiment of Mass. Heavy Arty Volunteers, who was enrolled on the 4th day of March one thousand eight hundred and sixty four to serve three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this 16th day of August 1865, at Washington District of Columbia by reason of S.C. No. 1940 [?] Dept. of Washington. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is know to exist.*) Said Hazen S. Pingree was born in Denmark in the state of Maine, is Twenty three years of age, Five feet Ten inches high, Light complexion, Blue eyes, Light hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Soldier. Given at Fort [...], this 16th day of August 1865. A blank oath of identity form is on the verso.

- Color postcard depicting the Gleaners' Building from the corner of Woodward Avenu and Palmer Street. Printed on the verso: Are you coming to Detroit and visit the Gleaner Temple on the home-coming days, Wednesday and Thursday, September 8 and 9, 1909? Remember the State Fair is in full swing at that time. Just get the members required and your railroad fare and ticket to the Fair will be furnished by the Supreme Arbor. - One blueprint drawing entitled "Steamer No. 168, Upper Deck Cabin Plan." The drawing shows a plan view of the Orlop Deck including the layout of cabins, passageways, public areas, and lifeboats. The title block in the lower right corner of the sheet indicates that the drawing was prepared at a scale of 1/4 inch = 1 foot by the American Shipbuilding Company and was dated "August 16, 1906."
