- Arch Farmer recalls working with CBS newsman Mike Wallace, working for Col. Robert McCormick at the Chicago Tribune, and writing the first 1,700 episodes of the soap opera "The Guiding Light." Farmer is interviewed by Maurice Crane, head of the G. Robert Vincent Voice Library at Michigan State University. Farmer donated many sound recordings from his archives to the Voice Library.

- Michigan State University faculty join together at the MSU Main Library for a reading event entitled, "Cesar E. Chavez Commemoration: We Are All Arizona". The group reads from books recently banned in the state of Arizona, a state which has also passed laws to eliminate Hispanic studies in the state school system. Selected works include "Codex tamuanchan: on becoming human" by R. Rodrigueq, "Pedagogy of the oppressed" by Paulo Freire and "For whom the Taco Bell tolls" by Elizabeth Martinez. The group also celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the United Farm Workers union founded by Chavez and Dolores Huerta. A question and answer session follows. The event is moderated by MSU Librarian Diana Rivera.

Duprie's music runs the gamut from rock to country as he seeks to bring out the sense of loss, confusion, and rage that accompany the struggle to make it in the Motor City. In between songs, Duprie talks about his life in River Rouge, MI, the inspiration for his songs, labor unions, his time as a firefighter, and his views on the gentrification of Detroit. Duprie is introduced by Michigan State University Professor John P. Beck.
