- Toru Uematsu says that he was born in Peru, but went to Japan before the war started to attend. He descries the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing and talks about the Makurazaki Typhoon which hit Japan in September, after the bombings. Uematsu also talks about staying in Hiroshima and Tokyo after the war and finally returning to Peru after Peru had again established diplomatic relations with Japan. He says that he is now the only living survivor of the atomic bombing in Peru and that once there had been four.

- Dr. Mohammad Khalil, associate professor of Religious Studies at Michigan State University, leads a discussion of the book, "Rūmī, poet and mystic" by Rūmī (1207-1273), which features the works of the famous Sufi mystic and poet who widely influenced mystical thought and literature throughout the Muslim world. Dr. Khalil presents a brief lecture framing the discussion before the audience breaks into small groups. The small group discussions are not heard. Dr. Khalil reconvenes the large group to discuss the book. Part five of a five part series entitled "Muslim journeys : pathways of faith," exploring the Muslim faith in the United States and throughout the world. MSU Librarian Deborah Margolis convenes the event and explains how the discussion will be facilitated. Sponsored by: the MSU Libraries, the MSU Muslim Studies Program, the East Lansing Area Clergy Association, the Islamic Society of Greater Lansing, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Library Association.
