Description:
Charles W. Upton started this business near 311 West Fifth Street (University Drive) about 1908, focusing primarily on selling coal. Around 1919, the business moved to this location at 543 North Main Street and was taken over by Upton's nephew, Roy G. Upton, and son-in-law, Arthur R. Dillman. From the 1950s onward, the business continued to diversify it's products and continued to grow. In 1987, Dillman & Upton moved to 607 Woodward Avenue.
