- 1953 Memo Book from Alice Serrell and Sarah Van Hoosen Jones' 1953 European trip. This little notebook was used by Alice to document the photos they took.The Alice Serrell Collection documents life on Van Hoosen Farm, events in the greater Rochester, Michigan area, and the travels of Alice Serrell and Dr. Sarah Van Hoosen Jones throughout the 1950s-1970s. The Van Hoosen Farm in Stoney Creek Village was home to the Taylor and Van Hoosen families, dating back to 1823. Alice Serrell was a close friend and employee of Dr. Sarah Van Hoosen Jones, who managed her family's farm from 1927 to 1952. - Eva Woodward Parker, a resident of Avon Township during the late 1800s and early 1900s,belonged to a prominent Rochester family. Her father was instrumental in securing a railroad stop in both Detroit and Rochester, while her husband, Arthur S. Parker, owned the Detroit Drug Company. She herself graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Literature. Both she and her husband were known statewide for their gardens. Upon her death in 1933, she donated large portion of her estate to the Avon Township Free Public Library (now the Rochester Hills Public Library). The exact date of this photograph is unknown. - Woolen mills frequently accepted sheep to shear then spun wool into yarn and created a final woolen project, like socks. This mill produced woolen products then became a shoddy mill, which uses wool materials to make felts. The final date of demise for this mill is unknown.

- "Found in the back of the book used for the annual meetings in Avon. A long sheet of paper approx. 5" x 60" very evident of different handwriting and several pieces of paper glued together. Research has shown that neighbors are listed together. For this reason this list has not been alphabetized. Heading at top of paper NAMES OF THOSE LIABLE TO DO MILITARY DUTY IN AVON at the end of list: The above filed with Town Clerk May 9, 1846" The original data was transcribed by Sally Cieslik in 1987.

- "Birth Records were kept at the Township Hall until the 1950s. All births in the township were registered with the Township Clerk. At the end of each month, the clerk filed that months births with the clerk of the county. I did not copy after 1917 as I felt it infringed upon the privacy of those born after 1918."
