- West side of [Old] Woodward Avenue in downtown Birmingham, looking north from intersection at Maple. Woodward is unpaved. The image of a biplane has been superimposed on the original photograph to create a novelty postcards. The photographer, Louis James Pesha, was known for these whimsical images. Pesha was a Canadian, who owned Pesha Postcard Company in Marine City, Michigan and was known for his photos of the Great Lakes region. Reference: Buel, G. & Buel, S. (2012) Marine City. - B&W image of commercial buildings along [Old] Woodward at the intersection of Maple Road, looking southwest to the O'Neal Building with awnings, A.R. Parks Meat Market, and a dry goods store. A horse and wagon are stopped at the intersection, and three men are standing nearby. Further south are two women and another horse and carriage. Utility poles and wires are present and the trolley, aka Detroit Interurban Rail (DUR), can bee seen in the unpaved street. Real photo postcard, stamped Azo, manufactured by Eastman Kodak Co. - Color-tinted postcard image with a fountain in the foreground at the southeast corner of Woodward and Maple in "library park." Grass and shade trees and sidewalk near the fountain, and a brick building in the background across the intersection (Levinson's Department Store). Fountain statue depicts boy holding umbrella and girl peeking over his shoulder. Fountain built in 1891 (Chicago) and installed to commemorate the city's first water pipe.
