- Description:
- This woman's silk plush evening coat has sleeves of heavy grosgrain silk gathered into large puff on top. The round fur (probably fox)stand-up collar is two and a half inches in height. The fur continues down the right side to the hips. There are four large buttons in the back, and another four are in the front. The coat fastens with hooks and eyes, and has a dark brown silk twill lining. The garment was bought at Taylor-Woolfenden, Detroit. Worn by Jane Lynn Patterson, whose husband was an undertaker. Original cost was $150.00.

- This women's evening gown of ecru lace with ecru chiffon underskirt is sleeveless with wide shoulder straps and a scoop neckline front and back. It has a wide lace collar or ruffle with a scalloped edge which covers the bodice front and back. The plain, flared skirt is ankle length. It has a wide suede belt covered by the same ecru lace, with a rhinestone buckle. There is a loose, waist length jacket with short sleeves having wide mink fur cuffs. It is scalloped around the entire edge and bound with chiffon. The neckline is turned over to form a small collar. Maker: Jean Patou

- This woman's ensemble has a dress made of crepon with a geometric design of orange, green, purple, fuschia and white. Natural waistline. Wrist- length sleeves with light shoulder pads and two button cuffs. It buttons to the waist and has a side zipper. The U-shaped neckline is trimmed with a self ruffle. The skirt has 1/2" pleats sewn down 10". Knee length. There is a 1/4" wide self belt. It hs a matching purple, velveteen hip-length woman's jacket with lapels faced with the same lining material as the dress and long has fitted sleeves. There is a one button closing and a 1 1/2" wide self belt. The belt has a brass buckle. The jacket has patch pockets on either side. - This woman's black velvet and ermine cape is comprised of a straight tube of black velvet that is a below- knee-length. It is lined with white satin in a rice-paper pattern. The cape has armholes at shoulders, and a wide shawl collar of white ermine. It dips down in back to below waist length, and a band of ermine runs down the front to the hem. The collar is lined with black satin, and the velvet inner-lined with white wool. The cape is without fastenings though they may have been removed. Label: Pack-Wolin. Worn by donor in early 1930s about the time of her debut. Donor is daughter of Eleanor Ford Torrey, and granddaughter of Emory Low Ford.

- Woman's two piece evening gown made of white alaskin. (A stiff, dull fabric, possibly part wool.) The bodice is tailored like a man's jacket or vest except that it has a high round neck. It is single breasted with four decorative buttons of white braid with a white drop bead in the center. The neckline and pocket flaps are also edged with rows of white braid and beads. The floor-length, straight skirt has two rows of braid and beads at the hem and an elaborate kick-pleat in the back. Both pieces are lined with white acetate. Worn by donor. Designed by Ruth Joyce. - Woman's dress having the bodice comprised of three layers of white tulle. The top layer is embroidered in white, and trimmed with blue sequins. The dress has a V-neck, elbow length sleeves with a ruffle and a blue satin bow. Two triangular panels of the skirt material rise from the waist like an apron top. The skirt has three layers of black and blue tulle over satin, and its hem is a band of gold thread embroidery. The dress has a blue satin sash with stays, and a back closure. - Woman's two-piece suit of gray / black light-weight serge has a long jacket with a round neck, and a yoke of three curved strips with three black button closures having bound buttonholes. The rest of the jacket hangs open. The long sleeves each have a matching band and black button at the cuff. The lining is black silk.. The skirt which has no waistband has a dropped waist, and the same yoke effect. The lower part of the knee-length skirt is cut on this bias. Label (jacket): " Lillian Inc., 1230 Washington Blvd., Detroit Exclusive Fashions" (Lillian's was later reorganized as Walter's)

- Woman's two piece, deep taupe wool velour suit. The hip-length jacket is fitted, and has padded shoulders, and long straight, set-in sleeves. Two horizontal piped, slash pockets are at the waist level. A single wooden button is at the waist closing. Brown braid trim is applied over the shoulders. The collarless jacket is lined in brown crepe. The A-line skirt has a 2" waistband, with a side zipper. The unlined skirt is below knee length. The suit was made for the donor, who was a millinary buyer at Hudson's, by Adrian. It was a favorite of the donor's. Hat 84.122.46 was made to wear with the suit. Label: Adrian Original.
