- James Cataline talks about working for the REO Motor Car Company, in Lansing, MI, as a timekeeper during World War Two and later becoming Parts Department General Manager in 1967 when REO became Diamond-Reo Trucks, Inc. Cataline reminisces fondly about the social life at REO and the terrible emotional damage its closing had on workers and the Greater Lansing community. He also describes the demolition of the REO Clubhouse and the later fire that destroyed the plant, events which, to him, drove home the end of an era. Cataline is interviewed by Shirley Bradley. Recorded as part of the commemoration of REO Motor Car Company’s 100th Anniversary.

- Bertha Fase was born in 1905. Her father was August Boseker, who built many of the historical homes in Highland Park and served as superintendent of the community. In the early 1900s, August purchased the Highland Park Pavilion, where bathing suits and towels could be rented and snacks purchased. Bertha recalls many details about the neighborhood and pavilion. She also shares stories about the family and speaks about her and her husband's careers.

- Brooke Boulton, an instructor at Rainy River Community College, presents "A Finnish voice for labor : Aku Paivio's poetry and the immigrant working-class." Boulton gives a biographical sketch of Paivio which includes details from her conversations with Paivio's son Allen. She says that Paivio is the "poet laureate of the immigrant working-class" and examines themes in his poetry which support her claim. Boulton reads two of Paivio's poems, "Rise of the masses" and "To justice, to humanity" and shows how each illustrates his views on labor and immigration. She also discusses the difficulties involved in translating Paivio's poetry from Finnish to English. The recording cuts out briefly just before the question and answer session and then resumes. Part of the "Our daily work/our daily lives" Brown Bag series sponsored by the Michigan State University School of Human Resources and Labor Relations, and the MSU Museum. Held in the MSU Museum Auditorium.

- Kurt Warnbein, a "triple threat halfback" for Michigan State College, talks about arguing on the field with University of Michigan offensive lineman and future President Gerald R. Ford, coming to MSC to run track and reluctantly playing football as a sophomore and says that he was given a student job at the campus hospital but no other financial help. Warnbein also says that his biggest thrill as football plays was beating the University of Michigan in 1934 and 1935. Warnbein is interviewed by Fred W. Stabley, director of MSU Sports Information, for his book "The Spartans : a story of Michigan State football".

- Ernesto B. Vigil, long time Chicano activist and former member of The Crusade for Justice, delivers a talk entitled, "Sra. Juanita Montoya de Martinez/Story to her grandson : the rebellion of 1847". Vigil describes events leading to The Taos Revolt, a popular insurrection in January 1847 by Mexicans and their Pueblo allies against the United States' occupation of present-day northern New Mexico during the Mexican-American War. Vigil shares his family's memories of the events, the role of his great-grandfather Pablo Montoya, and the long term affects of what transpired on Mexican and indigenous people. He also explains the overwhelming Spanish and Mexican influences on place names in the Southwest and answers questions from the audience. The event is convened by Dr. Rubén O. Martinez, director of the Julían Samora Research Institute at Michigan State University.
